Maxima Ultra 36 automatic barrier with full skirt
Updating External Security
Octaga needed to update the external security at their headquarters. They had an automated barrier in place which controlled access for staff vehicles however this did not prevent pedestrian access. In addition, the existing barrier had been in place for many years and was no longer fit for purpose.
Perimeter Security for an Office Car Park
this was to ensure that the area was secure which was especially important for members of staff leaving the office unaccompanied in the evening. The solution also needed to allow guests to access the parking area easily.
The main requirement was to replace the existing barrier which provided access to their car parking area. The new barrier would need to provide greater perimeter security, by controlling access to the parking area for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Installing an Automated Barrier & Totem
As a professional security company, Octaga decided to undertake the installation themselves. Working with BFT Automation to select the most suitable product, Octaga opted for a Maxima Ultra 36 barrier with a working boom length of 4.5 metres. The Maxima Ultra 36 is a 230v electromechanical barrier equipped with a asynchronous three-phase motor and inverter. The barrier is suitable for openings from 2m to 6m and is designed for very intensive use.
Rather than a simple replacement barrier, Octaga opted for additional top and bottom skirts. These helped to address the additional security requirements. The skirts provide extra protection above and below the barrier to help prevent pedestrians ducking-under or climbing over the barrier. In addition to the barrier, Octaga also needed a solution to house their access control & opted for a BFT full height Totem. The Totem is a multi-purpose housing column which can hold a range of accessories including traffic lights, control panels as well as intercom systems. Octaga used the totem was to house an additional traffic light system and the access control. Which gave them a neat & compact finished solution.
